:: Tackle and Gear Recommendations

The following are tackle, gear and clothing suggestions for your trip with us.

Rods:

- Casting rods between 6’ and 6’6”, fast action, with strong rod guides for braided line.

- Spinning rods are appropriate for smaller jerkbaits in the five-inch range, bucktail jigs and Banjo Minnows.

Reels:

- Casting: Quality reel with ample ball bearings, smooth drag, minimum line capacity of 120 yards of 65 lb braided line. We advise gear ratio of 6.3:1 or faster, especially for topwater lures.

- Spinning: Approximately a 9-11 ounce high quality reel with flawless drag and titanium or stainless steel line roller to avoid nicks from braided line

Lines:

- Braided line, between 65lb and 80lb (Power Pro, Whiplash, Tuff-Line, etc.) for large topwater lures and 30-65 lb braid for jigs and jerkbaits.

Lures:

- Anglers should bring lures that will cover the water column from the surface down to approximately six feet deep. Categories of lures to consider for your trip with us include large propeller baits, walking stick baits, jerk baits, jigs and Banjo Minnows.
